OUR MISSION
The Voice Youth in Care Newsletter Project is dedicated to providing a platform for current and former youth in care, aged 13 to 18, to share their experiences, connect with others, and inspire change. Our collaborative program aims to empower young individuals, foster a sense of community, and amplify the voices of those in the system.
Meet The Team
NEWSLETTER COLLABORATION
STORYTELLING SUPPORT
The Voice offers storytelling support and mentorship to help participants express their experiences and insights. We provide educational resources and creative outlets to empower youth to share their stories and connect with their peers.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
We actively build connections within the community to create a supportive environment for the youth in care. Our initiatives promote inclusivity and provide a platform for individuals to share their unique perspectives and talents.
PERSONAL GROWTH
We prioritize the personal growth of each participant, nurturing their talents and skills to help them realize their full potential and become confident, capable individuals. You may also earn credit towards graduation.
INSPIRATIONAL OUTINGS
Our program includes fun and inspiring outings that offer participants the opportunity to bond, try new experiences, and build lasting friendships. From shows at Neptune Theatre to skating on the Oval, we're often out and about exploring something new in Halifax.
Coming to The Voice has been just so much more incredible than I could ever imagine. I go every week and have some stability, something like a family where I can make friends and
create new memories. A place that is safe.
Destiny
One of the best parts of The Voice is that I've never felt judged for my feelings. I don’t have to pretend to be happy all the time or act tough. There was this weird sense of freedom in being able to be my true self, without any mask.
